Adjust Update: January 2014

Adjust is currently working with 37 individuals: 16 who have been released and are in the community and 20 who are still in prison. One has sadly passed away.
Both local prisons are now closed in the North-east with Aberdeen closing last week. Prisoners have been moved to HMP Barlinne in Glasgow and HMP Perth until the new HMP YOI Grampian opens in Peterhead from the 3rd March. The new prison plans to be fully operational by 18th April.
In the meantime, video conferencing facilities have been opened to the public at our offices at 48a Union Street so that family members can keep in contact with prisoners. Anyone wishing to make use of this resource should contact Apex on Abdn 611875. Arrangements will then be made for an appointment to access the ‘Virtual Visits’ system.
We have put measures in place to make sure that service users who have been shipped out of Aberdeen and are open to ADJUST will be able to access services on the day of their release despite the distances involved. We feel that it is crucial to have effective support in place for the important transition from prison to the community.
