YRP visit the BBC MediaCity

On 4th and  5th October shmu travelled to Manchester with 11 of our Youth Radio Project (YRP) members to take part in a National Community Radio Conference.

The group received a tour of the studios where the BBC Breakfast News and BBC Sports news is broadcasted live - and if this wasn't enough excitement for the shmu staff and young people, the Voice audiences were taking place too!

The group had a great experience from start to finish even after a 2 hour delay at Aberdeen airport, then straight from the Youth Hostel to drop off all the luggage then on the tram to the BBC, then off for a nice meal with all the other young people that were there for the conference.

Then Saturday was the conference day where the young people had the opportunity to work with others from Norwich, Bradford and Preston to make radio. A fantastic and very memorable experience for all, with 2 of or young people taking a flight for the first time too.
