Band of the Week: Alphas

shmuFM features Alphas - music to fill dancefloors

This week's featured band is Alphas! You can hear them live on the Band Of The Week Show on Monday the 23rd of February from 8-10pm, where you'll hear some of their studio tracks, and some acoustic tunes live - as well as getting to know the band and what they're up to.

Alphas is a three-piece alternative/indie band from the North-east of Scotland who write music to fill dancefloors. With influences ranging through Doves, Friendly Fires, Daft Punk and Blur they combine upbeat indie-rock with dance music influences to produce hook-laden songs full of catchy melodies, driving basslines and pounding drums.

Formed in 2013, Alphas spent most of 2014 recording debut album "A New Fire", upcoming single "Here Comes the Burn" offers a preview of the full release and perfectly demonstrates what to expect from Alphas. If you enjoy listening to their music as much as they enjoy playing it, you're in for a good time!

(Fun fact: all three members of Alphas are called Andrew!)

You can request any of their tracks on any of our live shows by getting in touch with us on 01224 483413, by texting 60300 and starting your message with SHMU then a space - also, please leave your name so we know who to dedicate it to - or by emailing us on
