Band of the Week: Hjeartzz
This week's Band of the Week on shmuFM is Hjeartzz - you can hear them live on the Band of the Week Show on Monday the 17th of August from 8-10pm. You'll hear Hjeartzz tracks, you'll hear stories of their recent tour with Milwalkie, you'll find out about what inspires Hjeartzz, and even where the name comes from. It's pronounced Hearts, by the way,
Hjeartzz are bedroom stars from a pop-geek universe, mixing schoolboy earnestness with a playful, bratty directness, and the rebellious innocence of primitive, fuzzy pop.
Their self-titled debut was written and recorded in Paris during two unbelievably hot weeks in August 2012 and polished up in Paris, New York and Aberdeen, with the help of such modern wizardry as Skype and Dropbox.
Featuring an open-door policy towards live performances - with all of the music composed by one man – things are always varied and fresh. Hjeartzz are a curiously misplaced fragment of a once-booming International Pop Underground. Just back from their co-headline tour with German indie-rockers Milwalkie, Hjeartzz have plenty of new tracks ready for your ears!
