Band of the Week: Robbie Flanagan

Robbie Flanagan is our featured artist this week

Our featured artist this week on shmuFM is Robbie Flanagan - you can hear him live on the Band of the Week Show on Monday the 18th of May from 8-10pm. His music has a beautifully introspective, somewhat melancholic feel, and we hope you enjoy hearing that - as well as a live set of new tracks from his second album, general banter with the host Jaimi, and surely much more - on the Band of the Week Show.

Robbie is a singer/songwriter from Aberdeen, Scotland. He’s been playing solo now for around 6 years - after being in a few bands growing up, he decided to go it alone. He released his first record in the summer of 2013 which includes some of the very first songs he wrote, and this album can be downloaded for free from Bandcamp.

His second album reflects the ups and downs he has been through since his first release, A Place For Sorrow. He went into this latest release with a very different perspective on both songwriting and recording. You can find it on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Bandcamp and Spotify – you can, of course, also listen to it on shmuFM! If you want to hear Robbie’s music at any time, just get in touch and make a request.

You can also request any of Robbie Flanagan's tracks on any of our live shows - not just the Band of the Week Show. To do this, simply call 01224 483413 while a song's playing, text 60300 and start your text with SHMU, a space and then your message, or email studio@shmu.org.uk.

As always, the Band of the Week Show is repeated every Friday at midnight until 2am on 99.8fm, and you can listen to the repeat at any time, right here.

EDIT: Here are two of Robbie's mesmerising tracks from his live set. Enjoy!
