shmuFM Band of the Week: Strange Skies

Our shmuFM Band of the Week this week is Strange Skies. You can hear the trio live on the show on Monday the 10th of February from 8-10pm.

Strange Skies is a local three-piece rock band, formed in 2012. They have a “long list of influences, too many to mention – we sound a little like The Black Keys, Audioslave, White Stripes and The Dead Weather.”

Strange Skies started as Kids in Sunglasses. However, seeing as how none of them were kids or wore sunglasses whilst plating the name, it was quickly disposed of - thus forming Strange Skies.

The trio is fronted by former featured artist Nicky Aiken, and features a heavy-handed drummer James Wilson and a former Five Fifteen member Billy Bilsland on bass, making up the backline. Strange Skies are gigging quite regularly around the Deen, so make sure you catch them somewhere for their modern take on 70’s style blues-rock!
