shmuTV were asked to produce short films to be screened at the Star Awards ceremony. Staff from Aberdeen City Council were treated to a lavish awards ceremony to celebrate and recognise staff achievement. Employees of the council were celebrated across all departments and the night was a huge success for all.

shmuTV visits Dublin

This year shmuTV visited Dublin to take part in a European exchange programme. Community broadcasters from across Europe met to discuss current practice and how to share content. shmuTV are also presently working on a bid for the local community TV license which will be up for grabs in the NE of Scotland this year.

One Year Out

A participant who was one of the first to sign up to ADJUST has celebrated his one year anniversary since being released from prison. This landmark occasion provides recognition of what the right support can do at a time when you’re ready and motivated to change, and have the determination to stick at it.

shmuFM seeking new shows

shmuFM is launching a campaign for new volunteers to train to take the reigns on some new shows at the station.  Denise Reid, one of the team at shmu, has been tasked with visiting communities to spread the word about shmuFM and the huge benefits training for the radio can bring.

Terry McDermott on Cruise Control

The Voice USA runner-up Terry McDermott came in as a guest on Cruise Control with Gary and Nikki on 13th June... and ended up staying for the whole two-hour show!

Terry - originally from Aberdeen - was the runner-up of the third season of the American version of The Voice and has garnered quite a following in the USA, as well as here in his hometown, and across Europe.

First Minister Alex Salmond Visits shmu

On Monday 10th June, Station House had a very special visit from Scotlands First Minister; Alex Salmond. He came with SNP Donside by-election candidate Mark McDonald to learn about the work the station is doing to promote opportunities for young people.

Youth TV is gearing up for the Aberdeen International Youth Festival and is presently in planning for the forthcoming event. The Youth media team will be filming and recording shows for broadcast on radio and shmuTV.
