Musicians compete for recording time

This Thursday sees the final of Slains Castle's Voice of the Dead competition - and the winner will get some amazing prizes, including the chance to record an EP at our shmuSOUND Recording Studio in Tillydrone.

Popular show celebrates 1st birthday

Popular retro chart show, Life Through A Ruby Tinted Lens celebrates a year on-air this week. The show's focus is the Top 40 from 40 years ago, and includes the top chart tracks, new entries and big climbers from this week back then, plus presenter Nick Bruce takes a look back at the newsworthy events (in sport, politics, TV and movies) from the time.

shmu intro sessions in full sing!

Since the launch of the shmu ‘intro sessions’, the past few weeks have been extremely busy for our outreach team. Over the past few weeks, shmu have worked to bring intro sessions to several groups, with more signing up every week.

Volunteers attend festive tea party

Our shmu volunteers were treated to a special thank you at the shmu ‘end of year tea party’.  The event took place at the Tillydrone Youth Project (TYP) on Monday 9th December from 6.30-8pm. The tea party was held to acknowledge the hard work everyone has put in over the course of 2013 and to celebrate another highly successful year for shmu.

Journalism Course set for January Start

Free Digital Media Café: Social Media

This Wednesday (December 11th) sees the last of our four initial Digital Media Cafés, being delivered as part of the Digital Commonwealth project.

Focussing on social media, the 2hr workshop will look at how you can promote your work and media content through sites like Twitter and Facebook, find information and connect with other groups and individuals with similar interests.

shmuFM Band of the Week: Daniel Mutch

Daniel Mutch is a local singer-songwriter who has been playing, writing and performing his own songs for around a year and a half. He likes to write and sing about the truths of life - he feels that it’s a great way to vent things, and convey things that he’d “never know how to speak about out loud”.
