YRP and YTV team up for AIYF

Instead of taking advantage of the blistering sunshine and topping up their tans, our budding young presenters and crew from the shmu Youth Radio Project (YRP) and Youth TV (YTV) spent a fair chunk of their precious summer holidays working at this year’s Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF).

'Band of the Week Live' Line-Up Revealed

We're delighted to announce that we have finalised the line-up for the first in our new series of live gigs, as part of the shmuFM Band of the Week project.

The first-ever Band of the Week Live event will feature Geoff Sharp, The Shores, Lizabett Russo and The Same Thing We Do Every Night.

Early Interventions – We’re back!

After a very hot summer baking away in our offices we are soon to be heading out and about again into schools to begin our Early Interventions programme for the 2013-14 academic year. We are going into Torry Academy, St Machar Academy and Northfield Academy as usual and are also heading up to Kincorth Academy for the first time this year.

Band of the Week Show is 2 years old

This Monday night sees the two-year anniversary of the shmuFM Band of the Week Show and hosts Mark E and Jaimi Ray will be celebrating with a collection of the finest moments from the last 12 months, broadcasting live on 99.8FM from 8-10pm.

ADJUST - Facts & Figures

ADJUST has three full-time members of staff working both within the prison and the community.

We have linked with various agencies to undertake work with 57 prisoners and ex-prisoners to date, creating individual frameworks of support to meet needs and address risks.

Of the 57 participants working on ADJUST, 34 are in the community and 23 in custody.

Robert's Journey

Robert, a 28 year old ex-offender with previous substance misuse issues, was sentenced to two years in prison in November 2011, having been remanded in custody on four previous occasions. He is now in paid employment, after having spent a period of time with the ‘Roots and Shoots’ initiative which is a charity that initiates and supports environmental and recycling projects.

Eddie Mac is latest shmuSOUND success

Look out for the name Eddie Mac in the future, as shmuSOUND's latest graduate is aiming for pop success with his first two tracks.

Recorded at our studio in Tillydrone, the tracks were written by Eddie Mac - known to his mother as Edward Mcnelis - and produced by our sound engineer Iain, with the help of our music tutors Simon and Shawn.

For the duration of Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF); Saturday 27th July to Saturday the 3rd of August, shmuTV's own YouthTV project will be making a series of daily programmes, featuring a wealth of clips, news and interviews with guests who are performing in this years festival.
