Join a School Choir

Extra-curricular activities can help you in many ways and teach you valuable skills that you otherwise wouldn't learn in school, and this is especially true with school choirs. Do you wish to become a singer when you're older? Well joining a school choir is a great way to achieve that dream.

Cloud's talk - Bullying

We all have been a victim of bullying, whether or not we liked it. Everyone was ether a bully or bullied by themselves and sometimes you don't really notice that you are bullying someone. I used to be bullied because of my weight and it didn't really feel great.

Dancing

I do cheerleading and hip hop. I like doing dancing because it gives you something to do and to meet new people. I think it gave me more things to do instead of staying at home and doing nothing.

Snowboarding

Snowboarding originated from skiing, surfing, skateboarding and sledging. You can do snowboarding on a vendex, alpine and snow. The first piece of evidence of a snowboard was in the 1910's. The snowboards back then were wooden planks with fishing strings and horse reins. Modern snowboarding began in the 1965.

Youth Journalism Group

2015 sees the launch of shmu's brand new youth journalism group. They will be out and about, covering stories for the shmu website and each of the community magazines. Watch this space for updates on what they are up to. The group have already started working on articles which will be included in the spring editions of the community magazines.

Youth Media Comics

The youth journalism group attended a workshop with a graphic novelist and illustrator on Saturday the 29th of November.

Lukasz, Fern, Yasmin and Connor attended the workshop at Central Library which was run by William Goldsmith as part of Book Week Scotland.

During the two hours the group were given a character to draw and developed a story around this character.

Youth Media Team and Book Week

Scottish Book week is a week where you go to libraries and schools and there are books being sold. It is a time to read books and find out about new books and illustrators. Illustrators come to schools to tell them stories and tell them about how they get their inspiration for their books and poems.
