Prison Radio Request Campaign
As part of our ‘Staying Connected’ project, our team have been working on a prison radio request campaign to get messages of support and music requests into the prison through our daily radio show – Grampian Lowdown.
Due to current prison lockdown procedures, prisoners have less contact with their friends and families - this limited communication is really difficult for the prisoners and their loved ones.
We have sent our request email far and wide to try and get as many messages as possible from prisoners’ friends and families. We have also been encouraging our partners and other organisations to provide short messages of support, well-wishes and positivity to the prisoners during this challenging time.
The response so far has been really positive, with our campaign reaching a prisoner’s family in Shetland within the first couple of days of promoting the service. We are hopeful this campaign will provide a lifeline for prisoners and their loved ones during the Coronoavirus period, and we will look to continue this service as a core part of our work going forward.
