Applications are now open for the Aberdeen BFI Film Academy which will run from September 2024 to January 2025. If you are aged 16-19 years old, passionate about film and keen to find out more about working in the film industry, then the BFI Film Academy Short Course in Aberdeen is the perfect course for you.

Are you aged 16-19, passionate about film and keen to find out more about working in the film industry?  The BFI Film Academy Short Course could be just for you. 

BFI Film Academy Short Courses offer an introductory hands-on filmmaking experience to build knowledge and skills and show the different pathways into the industry. Supported by BFI, Screen Scotland and the National Lottery.

Community TV Workshops: We Need You!

After a long delay due to the pandemic, we’re excited to be running our first set of Community TV Workshops at shmu!

We want members of the local community to join us for introductory workshops where participants can get hands-on experience with our film and TV kit, take part in ideas and development discussions and work with our team to help shape an exciting new platform – shmuTV!

Moving Image Arts: AS Level Film Course 2021/22

Shmu are once again delivering the AS Level Moving Image Arts course for the 21/22 academic year. MIA is an Applied Subject that examines the history, techniques and creative impact of film, while offering the knowledge and skills to enable students to make their own films.

Shmu to launch Community TV platform

Shmu will soon realise a long-held ambition of establishing a Community TV platform. 

The project will offer residents in our target communities a new opportunity to express themselves about issues that they feel passionately about, and share them through live TV broadcasts.
