Privacy Policy

shmu PRIVACY POLICY

This document describes the privacy practices that have been introduced in Station House Media Unit as a result of the General Data Protection Regulations [GDPR]. This privacy notice applies to information collected by shmu Speak Out Project. It describes the following:

  • What personally identifiable information is collected from you as a result of your involvement with shmu Youth Media activities, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.
  • What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.
  • The security procedures in place to protect this data.
  • How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
We are the sole owners of any information provided by you. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via this consent form and any other forms you complete relating to shmu Youth Media activities, or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will use your information to make contact with you when necessary and to provide statistical information to our funders. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organisation, other than as necessary to ensure the welfare of your child.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email or telephone to tell you about additional activities/programmes that may be of interest to your child as well as well as changes to this privacy policy.

Data Retention

It is our intention to only retain personal data for as long as it is required. In most situations that is not likely to be any longer than 12 months. It is considered useful to retain information for longer in the situation where participants are continuing onto other programmes. On that basis we would seek your approval to retain your information and/or provide us with an update.

Your Access to and Control Over Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can so by contacting us via email [info@shmu.org.uk] or phone number [01224 515013]. You can also request the following at any time:

  • What data we have about you, if any.
  • Request changes/corrections to any data we have about you.
  • Request us to delete any data we have about you.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

Security
We take precautions to protect your information whether it is held in paper copy or in an electronic format.  Only employees who need the information you have provided to perform a specific job (work directly with your child) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information and all paper copies of the information are kept in a secure environment.
