Young people to take part in arts survey

Shmu and other leading arts and cultural organisations in Aberdeen will be encouraging young people aged 0-29 to take part in a survey on the arts on Thursday 21st June.

The ‘One Day’ survey is a chance for all young people across Aberdeen to use their voice and have their views heard about the arts to help shape the city’s future plans.

Members of the shmuCREW took part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk at the start of June to help raise funds for shmu.

Natalie, Frieda and Laura tackled the Big Stroll from Milton of Crathes to Duthie Park and Michelle took part in the Wee Wander from Cults back to the park.

Youth Media at MayFest

On Saturday the 26th of May members of shmu’s Youth Media Team were invited to take part in a science panel called Science on the Spot as part of the 2018 May Festival. We showcased a film we produced as part of British Science Week back in March and got to post questions to several scientists.

Radio Course Number 9 Completed at HMP Grampian

Over the past 12 weeks, nine participants have been taking part in the Radio Broadcasting course at the creative media unit in HMP Grampian. The national progression award in Radio Broadcasting at SCQF level 5 is an introduction to radio production. Shmu & SPS staff support the prisoners through the course, giving them skills in radio broadcasting. It is made up of four units;

Towards Light are an Aberdeen-based psychedelic indie-rock band, with a hint of grunge and blues.

Formed in January 2017, they’re influenced by 1960s psychedelia, as well as 80s and 90s indie and alternative bands such as R.E.M and Nirvana.
