57 North Presents: Sonic Bucker

Bluesy alt-rock duo Sonic Bucker feature on shmu

This week's featured artist on our 57° North Presents show is local alt-rock duo Sonic Bucker! They appeared live on the show on Monday the 7th of November from 8-10pm, playing tracks from their debut EP.

Sonic Bucker is a two-piece band from Aberdeen with a sound that has been described as ZZ Top playing The Dead Weather’s Sea of Cowards album. With a style routed in hooks and riffs like the great bands that came before them, this is a homage Sonic Bucker aren’t afraid to pay.

Comprising of Fraser on guitar/vocals/bass and pseudo organ and Daz De Les Muertos on the drum kit, the sound this band create live is nothing short of huge. It’s hard, heavy and loud and it’s difficult to believe your eyes - it’s difficult to believe there are only two of them.

The band originally started off routed in the blues playing the songs of RL Burnside, Asie Payton and John Amor. That element still comes through in their music but it has evolved into something else, something that shoots from the hip yet maintains purpose.

You can request any of their tunes on any of our live shows by getting in touch with us on 01224 483413, by texting 60300 and starting your message with SHMU then a space - also, leave your name so we know who's hitting us - or by emailing us on studio@shmu.org.uk.
