Great Reviews for SHMU Fan Favourites

New releases from Band of the Week stars

Listeners to shmuFM's Band of the Week Show will be well familiar with Lizabett Russo and Jaimie Wren - two female singer-songwriters who proved very popular with our audience - but it seems the wider music world is starting to take notice too.

Russo's debut release has been warmly-received as far afield as the US, where Musical Discoveries described 'The Traveler's Song' EP as, "a well-produced and superb introduction to the diversity of Lizabett's talent. The three songs are stylistically different, yet held together by both superb vocal work and outstanding instrumental arrangements."

Further to that, The Glasgow Jam said, "We likened Lizabett’s vocals as a mixture between that of Norah Jones and Corinne Bailey Rae’s. All in all we would recommend fans of easy listening, folk music to give the song a try."

Her song Tonight was named Track of the Week in the Daily Record and The Write Club named her in their list of best undiscovered talent in Britian.

Another female singer-songwriter making waves is Jaimie Wren, who has just released her debut EP 'Kites'. She did an interview with Heather Walker for local music site 57º North.

In her review, Heather said, "'Under Seas' is vocally beautiful. Jaimie's voice is akin to Birdy in parts and you can hear her vocal influences strongly resonating through this song. Her natural vibrato and subtle inflections make her voice sound really real. Does that make sense? Raw, natural.

Both artists have done amazingly well so far in their careers and have hectic gig schedules coming up which reflect that success.
