YMI
We have now launched a music training and recording project, backed by Creative Scotland and Aberdeen City Council.
The shmuSOUND YMI (Youth Music Initiative) project is aimed at young musicians from the city’s regeneration areas and offers expert tuition and recording time, absolutely free of charge.
To apply, you can be a musician or group of musicians, from any musical genre, aged 14-25 and you must live in either Cummings Park, Middlefield, Northfield, Seaton, Tillydrone, Torry or Woodside.
The project is based around the needs of the young people involved, so a set of workshops will be tailor-made for each individual/group and will be led by our expert tutors.
Recording time in our newly-designed space in Tillydrone is also on offer and will give the musicians involved the chance to record a demo in a professional studio, working with our expert sound engineers.
We also offer a full package of promotional support, so you can learn how to make the most of social media, use online music sites like Soundcloud and Bandcamp, gain media coverage and learn how to approach labels, venues and managers.
What is on offer is unparalleled in terms of facilities, expert help and the fact that it is free makes it even better, so if you are interested then get in touch because we are looking for people RIGHT NOW.
To apply, or for more information, please contact Stevie Kearney at shmu on 01224 515013, or email sound@shmu.org.uk
