shmuTRAIN Success Story

As a part of the Positive Transitions (PT) course shmu take the participants to visit various workplaces to increase their awareness of the kind of jobs available in different industries. They get the opportunituy to hear first-hand from employers what expectations they have for new employees. As part of the PT22 course, the group were taken to the Marriott Hotel in Dyce.

Kincorth Academy's last day on shmuTRAIN

shmuTRAIN today had the Kincorth Academy Early Interventions 2014/15 year group at shmu for their last day of term.

We started working with this group in August 2014, and have seen the girls increase in confidence and gain skills to help them with their future plans. They have also participated in a school inspection on behalf of the course.

Early Interventions Radio Training

Kincorth Academy's shmuTRAIN Early Interventions group have been taking part in Employability and Radio training in school.

As part of their radio training the group have been researching, scripting and planning for many radio shows that they wish to broadcast in the future.

shmuTRAIN team gains a plus one

The latest member of the shmuTRAIN team has arrived!  Michelle Trail, our shmuTRAIN employability development worker, who ditched us in favour of maternity leave a couple of weeks ago, has given birth to a beautiful baby girl.

Positive Transitions 17 Graduate

The 17th Positive Transitions graduation ceremony took place on Monday 7th April in the grand surroundings of the Townhouse. The event was a particularly inspiring one which left a few of us with a lump in our throat after an emotional and heartfelt speech from a former trainees mum, Sharon Horne.

Graduation countdown for PT 17

The countdown is on and the Positive Transitions trainees are set to graduate in less than two weeks!  The ceremony, held at the Townhouse in Aberdeen, will see the hard work that the group have put in over the past weeks rewarded with a certificate and celebration of their achievements, supported by their families, friends, shmu staff and invited guests.

Trainees look behind the bars

On Monday 3rd March our Positive Transitions trainees and staff had a fantastic opportunity to visit the new HMP Grampian in Peterhead before any prisoners arrived. The group were hosted by Cliff Hughes and Richard Skinner, the SPS staff who are earmarked to be running the media training centre within the Prison.
