Self-described “loner rock” singer-songwriter Oliver Richard from Aberdeen had his song ‘Approach Me Like A Lion’ chosen by David Bowie producer Tony Visconti as the winner of the global Stylophone 50 songwriting competition in 2018.

Chris Simpson and Jeff Bruce make up Aberdeen rock duo The Ghost Tape.

Regulars on the local scene, they currently have three tracks available online (with more to follow early next year) and play the semi-finals of Krakatoa’s Eruption battle of the bands competition in January.

Eclectic Aberdeen band The Kymatiks formed in November of last year.

Since then, they’ve played headline shows at Aberdeen’s Blue Lamp and Banchory Beer Festival and headline the Inverurie Beer Festival in October.

Aberdeen rock four-piece Nicky Aiken & The Temple Sons formed in 2016.

They released their debut EP ‘Games You're Playing’ earlier this year and head out on a Scottish tour next month, including a date at Aberdeen’s Drummonds on Sunday 24th October.

Glass Monkey are a four-piece pop-punk band from Aberdeen.

They released their latest single ‘Eternal Holiday’ in August and play their biggest headline show to date at Aberdeen’s Tunnels on Friday 6th September.

They join Alan in the 57NP studio on Monday 2nd September from 8-10pm.

Liam Tedcastle is a singer-songwriter from Aberdeenshire. 

Currently working with Ally Campbell, he recently launched an EP and is working on new material for a forthcoming release.

Local alt-rock four-piece Forest Fires originally formed way back in 2011.

They released their debut album ‘Naked Ape’ in mid-July this year, followed by a headline show at Aberdeen’s Tunnels.

Indie-rock duo Canary Gold join Alan in the studio on Monday 5th August.

Formed in Aberdeen in 2016 by brothers JP and Spencer O'Grady, they further developed their sound during a spell in Houston, Texas. They’re now back in Scotland and released their latest single ‘Hummingbird’ on 26th July.

Aberdeen-based singer-songwriter Beth Taylor joins Alan in the 57 North Presents studio on Monday the 29th of July. Beth released her debut EP 'Under My Skin' in June.

57 North Presents: The Vapour Trails

57 North Presents returns on Monday 22nd July! Five-piece psych-influenced Aberdeen band The Vapour Trails are Alan's studio guests. The band formed last year and are gearing up to release an album on the USA’s Futureman Records next month. They also play a headline show at Aberdeen’s Cafe Drummond on Saturday 10 August.
