What is shmuTV?

shmu TV, the film and DVD production strand of the organisation, offers training and support at all stages of the film-making process, from script to screen, to producing commissioned work for local organisations and agencies. The strand also supports the Youth TV project, which provides a broad range of opportunities for young people to engage and participate in filmmaking opportunities.

Aberdeen BFI Academy 2024

Pleae note - Applications for 2024-2025 are now closed

Applications are now open for the Aberdeen BFI Film Academy which will run from September 2024 to January 2025. If you are aged 16-19 years old, passionate about film and keen to find out more about working in the film industry, then the BFI Film Academy Short Course in Aberdeen is the perfect course for you.

Community TV Workshops: We Need You!

After a long delay due to the pandemic, we’re excited to be running our first set of Community TV Workshops at shmu!

We want members of the local community to join us for introductory workshops where participants can get hands-on experience with our film and TV kit, take part in ideas and development discussions and work with our team to help shape an exciting new platform – shmuTV!

Moving Image Arts: AS Level Film Course 2021/22

Shmu are once again delivering the AS Level Moving Image Arts course for the 21/22 academic year. MIA is an Applied Subject that examines the history, techniques and creative impact of film, while offering the knowledge and skills to enable students to make their own films.
