shmu Young Filmmakers Club

We're really delighted to announce the launch of our Young Filmmakers Club, which starts on 8th November 2023!

Thanks to funding from the Sean Connery Foundation and Cashback for Communities, our newest FREE youth project is aimed at young people aged 14-17 from across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire who have a genuine interest in filmmaking and would like to develop skills in all areas of the process - from initial concept and storyboarding, to filming, editing and everything inbetween!

shmu Summer Activities 2023

Summer at shmu is all about being creative, developing new skills, making friends and having fun!

This summer we have a series of One Day Challenges in Radio, Film and Music for young people in the regeneration communities of Aberdeen City, as well as a week long Summer Film school open to young people across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire!

Friday Film Club

We're delighted to announce our newest activity for young people, Friday Film Club!

Open to young people aged 12-17 with an active interest in film and living in Tillydrone, Woodside, Torry, Middlefield, Seaton, Northfield or Cummings Park, sessions take place at shmu on Friday evenings from 5pm to 8pm and include a hot snack.

shmu awarded Youth Music Initiative funding

shmu has been awarded funding from the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative, which is administered by Creative Scotland, for ‘Transform’, a project which will see the continuation of the use of music as a medium in the transformative journeys of young people moving through our organisation.

Which is why our youth media crew are delighted to be exploring the world of youth social action, with the help of funding from Children in Need and the Hunter Foundation.
